Fire Safety
Fire Prevention Poster Program

Current State Winner
Hello! We are happy you are here.
The Poster Program has been ongoing for over 40 years to encourage and support fire safety & awareness among children, educators, and families. We work in conjunction with county and state Fire Marshals as well as fire safety educators across the state to coordinate this program. The program kicks off in October – which also is Fire Safety Month – with local fire marshals distributing materials to 4th and 5th grade classrooms. The art or homeroom teacher will work with the students to create posters that convey the message of fire safety in a creative and eye-catching way, making sure to include the slogan:
“FIRE SAFETY – EVERYONE/EVERYDAY”
The program runs through December, and the posters are then judged on a local level, with a total of 32 moving on to the state judging. A State Winner is then chosen and makes the cover of a calendar that is distributed to the entire State of Connecticut. Awards and monetary prizes are also issued to all 32 students.
The program makes fire safety fun and adds a creative element that every person involved genuinely enjoys. The art produced is incredible and we look forward to having students in both public school and homeschool join us for another year of the program! There is more detailed information contained in the links below so please check it out.
